Additional Information

Getting there:

  • Albany Airport should be convenient for non-stop or one-stop incoming flights from just about everywhere we come from (I hope).
  • Rental car is probably the most convenient way to get from the airport to Longfellows. I-87 is well marked from the airport, then just follow the simple directions above (it's a 20-25 minute drive).
  • Longfellows does offer shuttle service to the airport for $40, Round Trip. However, the catch is that they need advance notice to schedule the driver (the hotel is not large enough that they have someone there all the time). If you want to use the shuttle service, please set it up when you call to book your room. After booking your room, please ask to be transferred to JoAnne Bouchard (or call her separately if she is not there when you book; her extension is 146), so you can tell her your arrival time, airline, etc.
  • Taxi's do run from the airport to Longfellows, but it could be $40-$50, one way, or more.

    Booking and Rates:

  • 30 Rooms are blocked off for Wednesday and Thursday nights, at a rate of $119 per night. Please book your room at least 3 weeks in advance, by Wednesday, September 14th.
  • The Government lodging rate for Saratoga Springs county in October is $81. Based on Jim Kohl's informal poll at the Chicago meeting, 150% of that rate shouldn't be a problem for most attendees. Please contact me if it is; I'm sure we can work something out.
  • The hotel has a total of 50 rooms, of various configurations. Book early to get the type you want.

  • Saratoga Springs, NY is located about 25 minutes north of Albany, 3 hours from New York City, 2 1/2 hours from Binghamton and Syracuse.

  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and I'll try to post some information about local restaurants (or at least bring it to the meeting) soon. Sounds like there are plenty of great options (over 90 restaurants in Saratoga).

  • All rooms have high-speed Internet, and the hotel has wireless throughout.

Tuesday/Wednesday: For those of you who need lodging for a pre-meeting on Wednesday, unfortunately, Longfellows is booked for Tuesday night. However, I have reserved 10 rooms at a nearby Marriott hotel. They accept the Gov't rate of $81/night as well. Also, a Longfellows meeting room will be available for you/us for the full day on Wednesday, in addition to all day Thursday, and Friday AM. To book rooms at the Saratoga Marriott, call 800-321-2211 or 518-226-0538.

Please contact me with any questions or comments.
